Osaka day 1

Was quite excited for my first trip to Japan... Since i wasn't able to join my family for a trip to Tokyo before when i was still in school. So i was all set to explore Osaka!! With all the posts that i see on my Facebook newsfeeds...all the sashimis and sweet desserts that my friends post... I couldn't wait to try them all.

This is the business class seat of Philippine Airlines... Pardon me for the blurry picture. The seat was not as comfy as the other flights i've taken. From what i hear its quite new. They don't have monitors attached on the seats instead they give you Ipads for your entertainment purposes.

The sterwardess offered us Western or Japanese menu. I chose the Japanese beef curry. It came in Kaiseki form which consists of appetizers, soup, side dishes and the main meal served all side by side. It was quite yummy! Making me all the more excited for the food that i was going to eat in Osaka!!

Whew! After three and a half hours of plane ride! I'm finally here in Kansai Airport!! I got myself a tourist sim which is cheaper than the pocket wifi which can accomodate upto 10 devices, but i would be using it on my device only so the sim card was a better choice. It costs me ¥3,980 to get the tourist sim card which  enables me to use 100mb per day for 14 days. Since i will be staying for 9 days then that would be more than enough. Compared to pocket wifi for 9 days it would cost more or less ¥10,000.

So off we go from the airport to our hotel. We took the Nankai Limited Express "Rapit". Halfway through the journey the train had suddenly stopped and the doors went open which was still far from our intended station. There was an announcement which i couldn't understand since it was in Nippongo.  So i went out to ask the other passengers who might know English, luckily there was a lady who explained to me that there was an emergency situation so the train had to stop there for the next hour. Oh great, our first day and it was filled with adventure already!! We couldn't take taxi from there because there weren't any taxi nearby and the only way was to walk. It was pretty late so we decided to wait. The wait for a hour and a half was finally over. We reached Namba Staion then we took the Midosuji subway line to Hommachi Station.

It was near midnight when we reached our hotel, St. Regis Osaka. Checking in was a breeze since the receptionist was able to give me my keys in 5 mins.

Comfy queen bed quite large for 2 persons.

Bathtub even comes with tv screen
High-tech "woshuretto" as japanese call them are automated washlet toilets that comes with dryer and warm seats.

View of the skyline.
Butler service of The St. Regis hotel is superb.

When we got to the room, it was almost midnight. The butler helped us with our luggages and served us welcome drinks!
I asked if there were still restaurants that were opened. He came back with a list of restaurants nearby that are still open and the map as well. Such wonderful service!!

So we decided to go to Namba area which closes pretty late compared to other areas.

We stumbled upon this restaurant which was still open... We were so hungry so we went inside the first restaurant we saw.

One of the best yakitori i've tried! We ordered chicken gizzard and chicken thigh. Its super juicy and not too salty!

The dumplings was super yum as well!! Oh i can definitely eat japanese cuisine everyday and not get tired of it!!

Well, thats all for our first day in osaka! Can't wait for the next day!
